BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WA, July 17, 2012, Stephen S. Smith, Senior Chief and Boatswain’s Mate for the U.S. Coast Guard, has been recognized by Elite American Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in federal maritime law enforcement.
Over the course of an illustrious career that has spanned more than 24 years, Mr. Smith has amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience that has allowed him to thrive in his chosen field. He specializes in maritime search and rescue, homeland security, and illegal immigration, and brings forth a copious background in the field to his role. In his current capacity, Mr. Smith is responsible for coordinating search and rescue efforts, enforcing federal laws for national and international vessels in national waters, and preventing drug trafficking and illegal immigration attempts.
Mr. Smith has garnered a reputation of distinction for his outstanding efforts. He received a “Maritime Service Medal for Actions Following 9/11” for his work on a Coast Guard Homeland Security Mission. He has received numerous accommodations and been awarded a meritorious service medal for his operations concerning homeland security after September 11, 2001. Mr. Smith is one of approximately 170 enlisted men in command of the coast guard patrol boat. He speaks publicly at various high schools on subjects linked to the DARE program.
