Biloxi, Mississippi | October 28, 2010 | Scott S. Thresher, MBA, Emergency Manager for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, has been recognized by Elite American Military for his dedication, achievements, and leadership in military service.
An expert in operations, training, exercises, and plan management, Mr. Thresher manages the VA Gulf Coast Veteran’s Health Care Systems emergency management program, which is comprised of 1,800 staff members. A 25 year military veteran, he worked in medical readiness and contingency medical evacuations abroad and on several deployments and humanitarian health care missions with the United States Air Force. He served on the Khobar Tower’s terrorist event in June of 1996, the Challenger space shuttle’s explosion medical preparation unit in 1986, the China Eastern Airlines aircraft medical assistance team in 1993, and coordinated medical evacuations via aircraft for operations in Bosnia, Africa, Croatia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Mr. Thresher has had the opportunity to train more than 300 emergency responders and receivers for hazard event preparation over his career.
