Dade City, Florida | November 2, 2010 | Ralph E. Patterson, retired third Aassistant engineer for the United States Merchant Marines, has been recognized by Elite American Military for his dedication, experience, and achievements in shipboard propulsion plant operations.
As a third assistant engineer, Mr. Patterson operated the propulsion plant, ensured proper function of the electrical system, ensured purification of drinking water, and maintained the internal climate control of the ship. His dedication to his position set him apart from his peers in many ways; one unique accomplishment was his ability to do on-board repairs that normally would have had to be done in the shipyard. With 20 years of experience Mr. Patterson learned that the keys to success are being detail oriented, paying attention, and learning from experience.
Mr. Patterson is a licensed third assistant engineer and he has received training in nuclear power plant operations from the Naval Nuclear Power Program. He retired from the United States Navy in 1991 and holds affiliations with ABATE of Florida, Inc. and Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. A valued veteran, Mr. Patterson has been honored with Letters of Commendation and various ribbons and military medals.
