Gloucester, VA, March 15, 2001, Karen Meyer, Major in the United States Army, has been recognized by Elite American Military for dedication, achievements and leadership in military nursing.
With more than a decade of dedication to the armed forces, Major Meyer attributes her success to the support she receives from her family. Although she was the oldest during training, her desire to follow in her father’s footsteps guided her to see past minor interferences. As a major in the U.S. Army, she is responsible for overseeing a 20-person forward surgical team. Demonstrating an adept skill in surgicial and operation room surgery, it is her primary duty to provide first aid to soldiers on the front line; she finds it the most rewarding aspect. For her service, she received several military honors, including a combat action badge, meritorious service medal, Army achievement medal and Army commendation medal.
In addition to her military service, Major Meyer is an emergency medical technician intermediate for the Gloucester Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad, Inc. Holding a Bachelor of Science in nursing, she also shares her knowledge on the subject as an adjunct professor at a local community college. In her leisure time, she enjoys creating arts and crafts, and caring for her horses and other animals.
Moving forward, Major Meyer intends to retire and increase her participation in medical education.
