Wood, Chief Master Sergeant for the Deputy Director of Accreditation, Compliance, & Placement at Wilford Hall Medical Center, has been recognized by Elite American Military for her dedication, achievements and leadership in all aspects of military service.
With an expertise in health care administration and personnel management, C.M.Sgt. Wood oversees the accreditation and compliance of the Air Force Medical Center, she ensures the standards of the Joint Commission and Military Health Services are met or exceeded, provides daily guidance to the executive and professional staff on compliance issues, and mentors medical personnel within the Wilford Hall Medical Center. Attributing her success to her perseverance, focus and determination, C.M.Sgt. Wood is devoted to her duty and country. She is an independent thinker and feels that her deployment to Iraqi in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom was the greatest highlight of her career. As a soldier with the United States Air Force, the camaraderie was unmatched while serving in Iraq. She enjoyed that she had the opportunity to serve with various different people from diverse parts of the world and she knows that if she was a civilian she would never have the exposure to different cultures like she has had with the United States Air Force.
C.M.Sgt. Wood’s greatest accomplishment has been achieving her current position after 28 years of experience and hard work. Only 10 percent of enlisted soldiers are allowed to be promoted to the title of chief and out of those who are promoted only a minute number are women. C.M.Sgt. Wood earned a Master of Arts in training and development from Midwestern State University in 2002 and a bachelor’s degree in health care administration from Wayland Baptist University in 1999. Her greatest honor was being coined by Major General Thomas Travis as the “Wing Commander of the 59th Medical Wing.” With a great deal of success and experience over her career, C.M.Sgt.
