Cheryl A. Carson is the Northern Regional Medical Command Chief of Plans and Operations for the U.S. Army. Ms. Carson’s strengths and expertise in medical readiness for the U.S. Army, and in disability evaluation systems, allows her to proficiently assist the secretary of the U.S. Army for manpower and reserve affairs, oversee all medical assets and strategic policies for the medical care for the army personnel, and ensure members of the army are medically ready for war. Ms. Carson also devises the policies for their healthcare after the army staff returns from war, and she maintains oversight of planning procedures through their retirement.
Ms. Carson was inspired to pursue a career path that would allow her to facilitate smooth military operations by the knowledge and experience she gained as a civilian, as her background lies in psychology, K through 12 education, and education for special needs students. She has also performed medical work in the respiratory arena, which eventually led her to a medical position with the U.S. Army. In addition to the versatile talents she has honed over the course of a career that has spanned 30 years, Ms. Carson feels that leadership skills and an ability to overcome challenges has allowed her to shine as the professional that she is today.
